In western countries, style of clothing, or fashions, is continually evolving, often reflecting broader shifts in mores, customs, and attitudes. This can clearly be seen in the changes in fashion during the 20th century. The formal clothing of the 1900s gave way to more relaxed, practical attire as many rigid social conventions disappeared.
